Instructional Resources
There are two distinct categories of materials and resources available at MVCSC. The most prevalent resources are the adopted Instructional resources which are the primary resources used in instruction. Supplementary instructional resources are resources teachers may choose to incorporate into the classroom to support the unique needs of the students in their classrooms. These materials may be used to enrich and support the primary adopted instructional resources. Teachers carefully review any supplementary resources prior to them being used in the classroom. Supplementary resources align with the Indiana Academic standards, are age-appropriate, and align with the district vision for curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Each instructional recourse is an important part of a child's education.

MVCSC measures student growth utilizing NWEA MAP assessments in grades K-10 and use NWEA MAP Fluency for grade K-2. Student growth is measured each fall, winter and spring. Teachers use NWEA scores to determine student growth areas, levels of understanding, and to help create differentiated lessons. Schools use student score data as part of the decision making for student course placement and curriculum planning.

All students in kindergarten, grade one, and grade two are screened each school year for learning characteristics related to dyslexia. The selected universal screener used by MVCSC (NWEA Map Fluency) has been approved by the IDOE and meets all requirements listed within the guidance.
