A message from the Principal


Dear MES Families,

You should have received your child's NWEA report this week. If you have questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
It is Labor Day weekend! There is NO SCHOOL Monday, September 3. There is also NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, September 18 for parent teacher conferences. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are having trouble scheduling a conference in parentsquare.

News from the Library


Parents, now is the time to build a lifelong love for the library. The Hancock County Public Library serves residents in eight of the nine townships in Hancock County. Vernon Township is served by the Vernon Township Public Library. Cardholders from one library may apply for a card at the other. It is FREE. Be sure to check out HCPL’s  “School Resources” link for reliable homework resources for elementary students.
 


Pirate Fun Run




We are only 4 days away from kicking off our Pirate Fun Run fundraiser! We are looking forward to having fun and building community together to reach our fundraising goals.

  • Click “Sign Up”

  • Enter your School Name

  • VERY IMPORTANT! Once you sign up, get started by sharing via Facebook, email and text!


Tips for Success:

  • Set a goal for how much to raise and make a plan with your student on how to get there.

  • Share, share, share using our easy online tools!

  • Make sure to thank everyone that supported you after you reach your goal.

Chromebook Protection Premium




Pay Today - Deadline is September 1st!

All Students have a $25 premium for Chromebook protection added to their skyward account. If you would like to add this protection, please pay this by September 1st. If you do not wish to participate, simply don't pay the fee and this will be removed from your account after the deadline.


School Smiles



The dentist is coming to our school on September 9th! The School Smiles on-site dental program provides on-site dental care at our school for ALL students that sign up to participate. The dental team will set up inside our school and they accept Medicaid, private insurance, offer self-pay rates and grants through their foundation. Registration is now open online at: www.schoolsmiles.com/student-signup with over 100 languages to choose from when completing the online form. As a reminder, School Smiles requires a new registration form be filled out each school year.

Reporting an Absence


If your student will be absent from school, please notify us by one of the following methods:

Due to legislation changes effective July 2024, MVCSC is required to modify our absence policy. Please see the attached flyer.


Reminder for Car Riders


  • Drop off in the AM is between 7:20-7:40.
  • Students arriving after 7:40am (or there's no staff outside) must be signed in at the office.
  • Please be in line no later than 2:15pm for pickup, but no earlier than 1:30pm (1pm on Wednesdays).
  • Display car rider numbers during pickup.
  • Remain in line until you are at the end of the car rider line. Do not pull around cars.
  • Pull over at the end of the line if you need to buckle in your student.
  • Please try to let the office know of any dismissal changes no later than 1:30pm, unless there is an emergency.

Reminder - Please no parking on the public roadway, 700 N, prior to the school gates opening (not before 1pm on Wednesdays and before 1:30pm on regular days)
