Dear MES Families,

We are fast approaching our Thanksgiving break. It is hard to believe how quickly the year
has gone by!

Our S.A.I.L program is going so well! Students have earned almost 300 books! Thank you so much for your support!
Have  a great weekend!

News from the Library

The Scholastic Book Fair is fast approaching. MES will host the Book Fair  December 1 - 5.  Students will be able to browse AND shop during their fixed library time. A flyer will be sent home in the coming weeks.

The Book Fair will also be open during the Winter Arts Festival on December 4th. Don't forget that sales tax will be collected on purchases made at the fair.  For more information or questions about the MES Book Fair, contact Nancy Price.

If you are interested in volunteering for the book fair, you can sign up here. You will need to fill out an MVCSC Background Check Form  prior to volunteering. If you have already filled one out this school year, you do not have to do it again.

2025 Veterans Day Celebration

Student of the Month

Congratulations to our October Students of the Month!

Great job to you all!

Holiday with Heroes

The McCordsville Police Department is excited to announce our annual Holiday with Heroes event! This special program pairs local first responders with families who could use a little extra help this season. Together, they’ll be shopping at Meijer—picking out both necessities and a few fun holiday wishes.

If your family could benefit from this program—or if you know a family who could—please scan the QR code on the attached flyer to register each child.

Let’s make this holiday season brighter, together!

Hearing Screenings

We will complete our hearing screenings at McCordsville on 11/10/25. We are required to screen all students in grades K, 1, and 4. We will also be screening any new to the Mt. Vernon district students.

Snacks

Please remember to send your child in with a water and snack daily. We have limited supply and won't always have spare snacks.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is building up quickly. Please come and take a look if your child is missing anything.

Thank you!

Reminder - Drop off and Pick up Procedures

If you are bringing your child to school in the morning, please drop off your child at the front drop off area beginning at 7:10 a.m.

Please enter school grounds via the back entrance on 700N. Pull all the way around and there will be staff to direct you to pull forward. They will also be there to assist your child out of the car. Parents should not get out of the car.

AM Only - When exiting the school, you may only head North (turn right) on 600W.

Please remember that you must come in to sign a student in and out of school if it is after 7:35 am or before 2:05 pm. They could be considered tardy if this procedure is not followed.

The back gate opens at 1:30 for pick-up. Do not park on the grass or anywhere on 700N. We use a cone/number system to make sure students are safe.

Please display car rider numbers during pick up.

Remain in line until you are at the end of the car rider line. Do not pull around cars.

Pull over at the end of the line if you need to buckle in your child.

Please try to let the office know of any dismissal changes no later than 1:30pm, unless there is an emergency.

 Please follow all procedures.

Thank you.

REMINDER:  Students are considered TARDY if they are not in their classroom at 7:35 a.m.
