16 Feb - President's Day (No School)
|
Dear MES Families,
Thanks to your support of our fall fundraiser, teachers have been able to purchase some truly great items for their classrooms. These thoughtful and engaging resources are making a positive impact on student learning every day.
Our S.A.I.L. program is also in full swing! With PTO funding for the vending machine, students have earned more than 430 books this year. What an incredible accomplishment! In addition, funds from the fall fundraiser will support new hallway signage to strengthen our positive behavior initiatives. Our current paper posters have served us well, but they’re ready for an upgrade!
Thank you again for your continued support of MES. It truly makes a difference for our students.
As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Stephanie

As we enter into the winter season, we believe outdoor recess is an important and valuable part of the student’s day. Fresh air, exercise and time spent outside afford students a break from the structure of the classroom. Teachers agree that students perform best at school when they have an opportunity for vigorous outdoor play, so we try to get them out whenever possible. However, because there are times when it is not safe for children to be outdoors, we will be following the guidelines listed below to determine whether we will have inside or outside recess.
It will be imperative that your child is dressed appropriately (jackets, gloves, and hats) for the cold weather and prepared to play outdoors. Every child will need to wear a coat in order to go outside for recess.
Winter Recess Guidelines
The National Nurses’ Association has established the following guidelines for outdoor recess during the winter months.
· Feels like 25 degrees and above (considers wind chill factor) - Outdoor recess
· Feels like 24 degrees or below (considers wind chill factor) - Inside recess

If your child is missing anything, please take a look through our lost and found. It continues to grow daily.

If you are bringing your child to school in the morning, please drop off your child at the front drop off area beginning at 7:10 a.m.
Please enter school grounds via the back entrance on 700N. Pull all the way around and there will be staff to direct you to pull forward. They will also be there to assist your child out of the car. Parents should not get out of the car.
Please remember that you must come in to sign a student in and out of school if it is after 7:35 am or before 2:05 pm. They could be considered tardy if this procedure is not followed.
The back gate opens at 1:30 for pick-up. Do not park on the grass or anywhere on 700N. We use a cone/number system to make sure students are safe.
Please display car rider numbers during pick up.
Please follow all procedures.
Thank you.
